Blue Carpet Royalty: The Most Extravagant Jewellery at the 2025 Met Gala

When it comes to fashion's most glamorous night, the Met Gala delivers drama, fashion, and jaw-dropping luxury. Held annually on the first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Met Gala is the fundraising event that marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. It draws the world’s biggest names in fashion, film, music, and media, all dressed according to a specific theme.

2025 Met Gala: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”

This year’s exhibition, titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated the artistry and influence of Black fashion throughout history. It paid homage to tailoring, craftsmanship, and self-expression through style. Naturally, celebrities turned up in breathtaking ensembles—but the real stars of the blue carpet (yes, the carpet was blue this time) were the glittering, priceless jewels that upped each look to the level of couture heaven.

From rare diamonds and vintage treasures to custom high-jewelry masterpieces, here’s a closer look at the most dazzling and expensive jewellery spotted at the this year’s Met Gala:

  1. Isha Ambani in Personal Heirloom Necklaces

Isha Ambani graced the red carpet wearing a vintage-inspired solitaire necklace from her personal collection, featuring an 80.73-carat cushion-cut diamond. Fans have also pointed out that the necklaces bears a resemblance to the Cartier Jeanne Toussaint piece featured on Anne Hathaway in Ocean's 8. The necklace in Ocean's 8 was a replica based on the real artifact that was commissioned by the Maharaja of Nawanagar in 1931 and created by Jacques Cartier. The Indian heiress brought tradition and sentiment to the red carpet by layering personal family necklaces. With kundan, polki, and uncut diamonds set in heritage goldwork, her jewellery told a story of legacy and luxury.

She paired it with a vintage Cartier watch brooch from 1925 featuring platinum, onyx, black enamel, ribbon, and diamonds. The mixer of vintage and contemporary Cartier made this one of the most stylistically layered jewellery moments of the night.
